A: Yes, the spouse of the applicant need to be legally settled in the United Kingdom.
Q: What is meant by the age of marriage?
A: According to the Immigration Rules and Regulations amended on 27 November 2008, the age of marriage must be at least 21 for either of the applicants. This has been supported by the Home Office Bill to prevent any possibility of the forced marriages and abuse.
Q: Can the applicant and the spouse live outside the United Kingdom?
A: Yes, They may live outside the UK should they wish to do so. In case they live outside the United Kingdom for more than 4 years, they may apply for Indefinite Leave To Remain straight away.

A: No. The couple are not allowed to claim benefits or use Public Funds such as housing, income support, etc.
